Regional Prevention Coordinator (RPC)

Red Rock RPC uses planned activities to reduce the risk that individuals will experience alcohol, tobacco, or other drug-related problems in their lives. It is a positive, proactive approach that attempts to influence individuals before the earliest onset of such problems.
Prevention begins within communities--helping individuals to learn that they can have an impact in solving their local problems and setting local norms. Red Rock RPC emphasizes collaboration and cooperation, both to conserve limited resources, and to build on existing relationships within the community. Community groups are routinely used to explore new, creative ways to use existing resources.
Prevention is part of a broader health promotion effort; based on the knowledge the addiction is a primary, progressive, chronic, and fatal disease. As such, it focuses on helping people develop new, more positive views of themselves.
Early recognition and referral to treatment activities attempt to assist individuals who have already begun inappropriate use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs.
Comprehensive prevention efforts target many agencies and systems, and use many strategies in order to have the broadest possible impact. Therefore, evaluation is crucial in order for communities and programs to identify their successful efforts and to modify or abandon their unproductive efforts.

The overall goal for Red Rock RPC is the development of healthy, responsible, productive citizens who will be unlikely to experience substance abuse related problems in their lives.

Our Vision

Restoring, training, mobilizing, and supporting communities to establish proactive preventative measures to increase the reduction of substance abuse among youth.

Please Take Our Survey

Red Rock RPC is partnering with ODMHSAS to conduct an online community survey for ages 18 and up surrounding prescription drug use. Below is the survey link; it can also be taken on a mobile device. Also, attached is a QR code for the survey link. This data will help provide insight on the trends surrounding the non-medical use of prescription drugs. The results will be used to help with our strategic planning which aligns the needs of our community with the goals of our work plan. The survey is completely anonymous. For the purposes of this survey, we need all participants to be over the age of 18. Please contact the RPC if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for participating!
